Karachi is expected to receive rain from the night of April 1 as a westerly weather system approaches the region, according to the Pakistan Meteorological Department.
The Met Office said the likelihood of showers will increase on April 2, with rainfall expected to continue into April 3. Some areas of the city may receive up to 50mm or more during the spell.
The system is also likely to bring strong winds, with gusts potentially reaching 50 kilometres per hour or higher, raising the risk of damage to weak structures and infrastructure.
The PMD said Karachi will experience the weather system later than other regions, as it moves across the country after entering through Balochistan. The broader system is expected to remain active until April 4, with a possibility of extending beyond that period.
Authorities have warned that thunderstorms, gusty winds, and possible hail may pose risks to electricity infrastructure, billboards, solar panels, and standing crops in surrounding areas. The department has advised residents to exercise caution, avoid unnecessary travel, and stay updated on official weather advisories as conditions develop.
