After a series of unending leaks, Xiaomi is finally removing the curtains off of its big-screen mid-range phone, the Mi Max 3.
The phone comes with a massive display, dual-cameras on the back, and an affordable price-tag. This year’s design is bolstered by an 18:9 display and thinner bezels, too.
Design and Display
The metal-based design is admittedly quite clean-looking, available in Black, Gold, and Blue.
That has allowed the inclusion of a larger, 6.9″ display, which is tablet territory. It also comes with FHD+ (1080 x 2160) resolution coming in at a good enough 350 PPI.
There are no on-screen buttons this time, so the overall size should be the same as Mi Max 2.
Internals and Storage
Under the hood, you get the mid-tier Snapdragon 636 processor with eight Kryo cores. You either get a 4/64 GB or 6/128 GB RAM storage combination.
The OS running is Android 8.1 Oreo with MIUI 9.5.
Camera(s)
The cameras on the back are set in a 12 MPÂ + 5 MP orientation, with the former lens coming with 1.4um pixels for enhanced lighting in photos as well as AI assist in the final output.
The front camera comes with an 8 MP lens.
Battery
The phone is powered by a gigantic 5500 mAh battery, which is impressive because of its 7.99mm waistline. Fast charging is thankfully available (Quick Charge 3.0).
Pricing starts at $250 for the 4 GB/64 GB model, going up to $300 for the 6 GB/128 GB variant. As always, don’t expect the pricing to remain the same in international markets.
