Xiaomi Launches Budget Friendly Mi A2 Lite

At a launch event today in Madrid, Spain, Xiaomi launched their latest Android One smartphone the Mi A2. They also launched its slightly more affordable sibling, called the Mi A2 Lite, with different hardware.

Like the Mi A2, Xiaomi didn’t announce an official launch date or price for the phone for Pakistan. We’ll update you as soon as we get any info about it.

Design and Display

The design of the Mi A2 Lite is similar to the Mi A2 albeit being in a smaller form factor. The most obvious difference is the notched display on the Lite model. On the back, you have the same vertically placed dual cameras and a fingerprint scanner in the middle.

As far as the display is concerned, it comes with a 5.84-inch IPS LCD panel which is also 1080p but has an aspect ratio of 19:9 (due to the notch).

Hardware

While the Mi A2 improves over the Mi A1 in almost every department, the Mi A2 Lite is configured to be similar in performance to the Mi A1.

With the Mi A2, you get Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 625 octa-core chipset. As far as memory configurations are concerned, you have two options:

• 3GB+32GB
• 4GB+64GB

Connectivity options include USB-C, Bluetooth and also a 3.5mm headphone jack which is missing on the Mi A2.

Camera

On the back, you have dual cameras, with a 5MP sensor and a 12MP shooter with 1.25um pixels and PDAF. Both have an aperture of f/2.2.

 

 

The front camera comes with a 5MP sensor with a f/2.0 aperture.

Battery, Availability, and Price

The battery capacity of the Mi A2 Lite is 4,000mAh. Unfortunately, Xiaomi didn’t afford it the luxury of fast charging for some reason, which is odd considering its 4000 mAh capacity.

The colors available for the Mi A2 Lite include Blue, Gold, and Black.

 

Like the Mi A2, the Mi A2 Lite will also be officially launched in Pakistan, though we don’t have an official launch date or price.

International prices that were revealed on stage are as follows:

• 179€ for the 3GB+32GB variant
• 229€ for the 4GB+64GB variant
