The talent regards on odds, it is destined to flourish. So is the case with Pakistan’s former women cricket team’s captain and a dynamic all-rounder, Sana Mir.
With his performances with bat and ball, Sana was always on top of her game and led Pakistan team from the front.
Her performances, particularly with the ball has been sensational, ever since she voluntarily stepped down from captaincy to give youngsters more chances.
She was phenomenal with the ball in the recently concluded T20 series against Bangladesh where she got a bagful of wickets, and now in the ICC’s ICC Women’s Championship, Mir has left everyone awestruck with her scintillating performance.

So far in nine matches of the championship, Sana has grabbed 26 wickets with a remarkable average of 12.75, probably among all-time best.
This consistency has yielded results and she has now topped the ICC’s women bowlers rankings for ODIs.
With 663 points to her name, Sana displaced Australia’s Megan Schutt who is now second in the list with three lesser points.
She has also improved her all-rounders’ rankings to be placed on a career-best 5th.
Interestingly, she is only the first Pakistani women cricketer to ever secure the top spot of ICC rankings in any category.
Her commendable feet was acknowledged by the government of Pakistan who quickly moved congratulate the former captain.

It is unfortunate that her performances in the ongoing championship have not done any good to Pakistan’s overall performances as the team still reeling as low as on the sixth spot.
