Pakpattan’s First Female SHO Investigates 200 Sexual Abuse Cases in 3 Years

The first female Station House Officer (SHO) of the Pakpattan district has investigated 200 rape cases in just three years. Most of the investigations enabled conviction and put the culprits behind the bars.

Kulsoom Fatima was appointed as an SHO two months ago. However, she has been striving to crackdown on the heinous crime of sexual abuse against women and the minors for three years, ever since she got appointed as sub-inspector. In this small period, she has manifested remarkable performance.

“Every culprit in these cases has been arrested and brought to justice by providing evidence to the court,” says Fatima.

My anger or words could not protect the minor girls.

In an interview to British Broadcasting Channel (BBC), she said that the incidents of sexual abuse of minor girls made her angry, but she was not able to do anything at that time.

She said she wants to be in a position where she can do something for the little girls. “I got the opportunity. I was appointed as a sub-inspector in Punjab Police after passing the competitive exams.”

Fatima said that she was assigned the same task she had always wanted to do. She was assigned the task of investigating the cases that were related to women and minor girls.

District Police Officer (DPO) Pakpattan, Ibadat Nisar had appointed Fatima as SHO at Model Police Station Daloryam. He said that the appointment of female officers in Pakpattan Police will help in dispensing justice to people.

  • Utterly unbelievable.200 rape cases in the local limits of only one police station in one district within two months is highly doubtful. She may be a competent police officer but such statement could not be believed.

    • Not doubtful at all. 200 unsolved cases of rape. It’s perfectly believable, unfortunately.

      • I agree. Only a woman understands another woman’s pain, suffering and culminated frustration. It must have triggered her exponentially and this phenomena is probably beyond the domain of comprehension of many men whose minds are within the clutch male chauvinism.

        • It has taken a woman to bring these men to justice because I suspect in many of these districts men don’t care about rape or don’t even actually believe it is something wrong. The sadness of this male dominated world we live in where women are still persecuted by men. Being safe is not a ‘given ‘ for women. It’s not an equal right as men. Women unfortunately have to fight for it ?

      • She is Great ladie i feel pround on this i like very ??which is doing that’s great work i also want to join police any one know when the coming new seats plz tell me 03048559021

    • The facts, it seems, trump your disbelief. And this, my friend, is why it’s good that more women officers are finding their way into these positions. Many men just don’t appreciate the significance and prevalence of rape in our society. Two hundred unsolved cases is unlikely to be unusual. I’m sure there are millions of cases of rape that have been neglected, ignored, or unsolved, that could be resolved with the right application of dedication and resources.

      • Just a million rape cases would mean one in two hundred women in Pakistan ?
No wonder it’s calssifed as a third world country,, just look at your thinking

    • Totally believable. what’s totally unbelievable is that this day in a age, a man would think it’s totally unbelievable. What? Do you hate facts or something? Or are you just a misogynist incel?

    • Why? Because it embarrasses the men who have done precisely nothing in many many years to solve these cases?

    • You’re not thinking it through.

      200 cases is believable.

The reason she could solve them is because the information needed to do so was already available. The victims most likely knew their rapists and had named them – neighbours, employers, classmates, relatives (stranger rape is less common that rape by someone known to the victim).

What you’re not seeing – possibly you’re ignoring – is that the male officers of that station COULD have solved the cases, but had, for whatever reasons, chosen not to do so.

    • I’m sure it was 200 rape cases in the local limits of only one police station in one district within god knows how long. Rape cases tend to get low priority. A lot. She was probably taking care of the backlog.

    • She solved 200 cases in two months because they were easily solved. They were unsolved because lazy and sexist male cops hate women and would rather let rapists walk free than make an effort.

Your typically male attitude matches the cops’ typically male attitude. Small wonder rape is endemic.

  • I shared it but it doesn’t show up in the counts… I hope there exist more support for news like this one

  • Full credit for her efforts. I pray she becomes even more successful in her efforts. Shame on the men in power/uniform who let such crimes go ignored.

    • Where does it say men let such crimes go ignored?
Maybe on average a male officer solves 300 cases in the same time..
do you have evidence of your claim that men officers let such crimes go ignored..

      • Yes. All the officers had to be male. They are always male because of damn patriarchy. Was there any movement on these case? No. Did you know that 80% of rape kits are utterly ignored by male dominated police departments everywhere? Not even tested. Men can’t be bothered. When you experience life as a woman you get to speak about this. Until then I suggest you stop embarrassing yourself.

      • It may just be the fact that women feel that they can talk openly to another woman & that that woman actually listened & was able to get all the information required to solve the case,
In a world, that until recently, men held the power, purse strings & had the final word, is it no wonder that women just put up & shut up for fear of incarceration in mental institutes, honour killings etc.

  • SHO Kulsum Fatima’s achievement of solving 200 cases of rape is unbelievable but not impossible with the help of her bosses and colleagues. She deserves an award and letter of appreciation.

  • The BBC report said 200 cases in three year. ProPakistan is making clickbait stuff even on an issue like child abuse. Shame.

  • Bhaya… One can go to BBC Urdu to read it in detail.. Copy kar ky hum tak pohanchanay ka Shukria.

  • How does an SHO solves cases :$
    Based on what?
Plus is an SHO qualified to look into and solve such cases..
Isn’t that the job of the courts..

  • BBC makes some beautiful fairytales with the help of their NGOs they need to reflect and concentrate more on their country

  • Well that points to a total lack competence or concern on the part of the coworkers there before her.

  • qom ki is bahadur aur maya naz beti k liy khiraj e tehseen.
ALLAH (SWT) sb ko aisi betian ata kary. aur is azeem beti ko apni amaan me rakhy. ameen
