Top EDB Officials Visit Airlink Communication Facility in Lahore

The Chairman Airlink Communication Ltd., Aslam Hayat Piracha, and its CEO, Muzzaffar Hayat Piracha, welcomed the Chairman of the Engineering Development Board (EDB), Almas Hyder, and the EDB General Manager, Asim Ayaz, at Airlink’s assembly line facility in Lahore.

The visit was intended to observe the trial production of mobile phones at Airlink’s state-of-the-art assembly line. The company has been a strong proponent of investments in Pakistan and has heavily invested in the local industry with a production capacity of 500,000 to 800,000 units per month.

The facility in concern here is expected to provide employment opportunities to more than 1,500 skilled and non-skilled workers.

Founded in 2011, Air Link Communication Limited is a leading importer and distributor of mobile phones for Huawei and Samsung mobile phones and accessories in Pakistan. According to Customs Import Data, it has between 20 to 25 percent of the market share of the entire mobile business.

Air Link Communication has also applied for listing at the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX), aiming to raise a minimum of Rs. 5.85 billion against 90 million shares to increase its import and distribution capacity and open more outlets nationwide.

The company has planned to offer 90 million shares to the corporate, high net-worth individual, and retail investors through book building (Dutch auction process).

Air Link has a country-wide distribution network comprising 16 regional hubs linked to over 1,000 wholesalers and more than 4,000 retailers for selling mobile phones and accessories across Pakistan.
