Laura Mueller Makes History as F1’s First Female Race Engineer

Haas F1 Team has unveiled significant structural changes ahead of the 2025 Formula 1 season, including the promotion of Laura Mueller to Race Engineer.

This marks a milestone as Mueller becomes the first full-time female Race Engineer in the history of the sport. Haas, which finished seventh in the 2024 Constructors’ Championship, is determined to build on its best result since 2018 with a refreshed driver lineup featuring Esteban Ocon and Ferrari junior Ollie Bearman. Mueller will serve as the race engineer for Ocon in his debut season with the team.

Laura Mueller’s promotion from Performance Engineer to Race Engineer underscores her exceptional trackside capabilities and work ethic. Haas Team Principal Ayao Komatsu praised Mueller’s determination and problem-solving skills, highlighting her ability to dig deep for solutions and continuously seek improvements.

“Esteban is a determined character, and I believe his personality aligns well with Laura’s drive and focus,” said Komatsu. “Her determination and thoroughness in finding answers make her the perfect fit for the role.”

Laura Mueller joined Haas in 2022, working initially in the simulator department. She now steps into one of the most influential positions trackside, acting as the key link between Ocon and the team, both on and off the track.

Haas is also bolstering its strategic and technical departments. Carine Cridelich will join as Head of Strategy from Racing Bulls in March, following an extended search to strengthen the team’s race-day decision-making. Additionally, Francesco Nenci has been appointed as Chief Race Engineer, filling a position that had been vacant for a year.

Ronan O’Hare, formerly a Performance Engineer, has been promoted to Race Engineer for Ollie Bearman. Bearman, who stepped in for Kevin Magnussen during the 2023 season, has already integrated well into the team.
