Opening Dates Announced for Key Road Projects in Sindh

Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah on Monday reviewed progress on major infrastructure projects in Karachi, including the new link road, Shahrah-e-Bhutto Expressway, and the Korangi Causeway Bridge.

During a meeting at CM House, Shah directed the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) Unit to open the 22km link road—connecting the M-9 motorway with National Highway (N-5)—by July 25. The road aims to ease cargo flow between Port Qasim and the national network.

The Rs. 3.53 billion project is being developed with the FWO and NHA, and includes a new interchange with work ongoing in three segments.

Shah also instructed authorities to complete the full interchange by October end. Once opened, the old link road will be closed.

Regarding the Shahrah-e-Bhutto Expressway, the project is 82% complete. The first segment to Quaidabad is nearly finished, while the second phase to Kathore is at 65%. The elevated Samo Goth section has reached 48% progress, and work is ongoing on the Kathore interchange.

The Korangi Causeway Bridge, valued at Rs. 6.1 billion, has reached 80% completion and is due by November. Tenders for its connecting junction are under way.

Shah stressed the importance of timely delivery to reduce congestion and boost economic activity through better connectivity.
