According to sources, it has also been recommended to postpone by-elections of Provincial and National Assemblies as well. PP-51 and NA-75 by-elections were due to be held, but owing to the situation they too have been postponed to a later date.
It may be recalled that the Election Commission wrote a letter to the Punjab government to release the schedule of elections and also sought their opinion on the COVID-19 situation in the constituencies.
Earlier, local body elections in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK) and Sindh were also postponed due to the prevalent Covid-19 situation.
