Reham Khan defends Maryam Nawaz’s right to Diet coke. Reham, ex-wife of Prime Minister Imran Khan, slammed the restrictions on Maryam Nawaz while she was in jail.

The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI) government denied Maryam her request for Diet Coke.

Reham warned them of political and soft drink karma, claiming that this denial is an “unjustified restriction.”

She said, “Today you have stopped Maryam Nawaz from drinking Diet Coke. It would be very difficult if your leader is stopped from consuming Coke in jail.”

Maryam’s love for Coke

This is not the first time Maryam Nawaz has been associated with Diet Coke.

Maryam Nawaz often expressed her love for the soft drink and its counterparts on social media. In a 2013 tweet, she called it “one of the most delectable treats” and announced her addiction to Tang, the drink mix.

Later in 2018, Maryam tweeted a Coke label with her father’s name on it. The tweet received a flurry of responses from trolls at the time.

@ComicsbyMajid tweeted “Zaalima wapas PM banade”, referring to the Coca-cola ad slogan “Zaalima Coca-Cola banade” and to Nawaz Sharif’s disposal as prime minister.

Coke and Political Karma

Reham warned her former husband that his actions will come back to haunt him.

She claimed that Imran should have listened to Pervez Elahi’s advice and allowed Maryam  Nawaz her Diet coke.

She took note of recent political circumstances, claiming that history is repeating itself. She says that Imran is facing “karma” for his disposal of former political rivals.

She drew a parallel to the 2014 PTI dharna and the dharna by Maulana Fazlur Rehman.

She claimed,

“There was a dharna after one year [of PTI rule] ; this time Maulana Fazlur Rehman is saying the same things—’There will be a shutterdown, a lockdown.'”

Reham claims that it is Imran’s political disloyalty that is catching up with him. She said his “small majority” is now threatening his own position and he might end up in Maryam Nawaz’s position, thirsty for freedom and a Diet Coke.

She warned,

“Tomorrow if you have to spend a day in jail, you may not be served any Coke, Pepsi or Seven-up”.

Seems like denying a soft drink to anyone is a very insulting thing indeed. What do you think?
