PTCL today introduced this EVO Wingle, a WiFi Dongle running on 9.3 Mbps Rev B network to create a WiFi hotspot in circumference of 100 meters of Dongle.
Unlike PTCL’s Tenda Routers and Nitro WiFi Cloud, EVO Wingle is a USB WiFi device which can get connected through any power source to create a WiFi hotspot for internet sharing on all WiFi enabled devices in the area.
For instance, you can connect Evo Wingle in your car tape to create a WiFi hotspot in car and around to enable internet access on your WiFi enabled smartphones, or laptops for that matter.
So all you need is a USB power source to get connected to internet.
PTCL says that EVO Wingle is a hybrid device and it switches between PTCL EVO and Nitro networks based on availability. EVO Wingle will look for Nitro network first to offer 9.3 Mbps speeds, however, if Nitro isn’t available then Wingle will switch to Evo to offer 3.1 Mbps speeds.
PTCL claims to have Nitro coverage in 200 cities while EVO coverage in 250 cities across Pakistan.
PTCL says that Evo Wingle comes with built-in security features that ensure optimum security for your device, so you have full control over the people and the devices that share your connection.
In order to ensure optimal security of your Wi-Fi connection, it is highly recommended that you change your security key (Wi-Fi Key) after first log-in.

One Major drawback…it always need USB powered source :(. It not 100% portable…. can’t with my cell phone on the go …like Nitro or Evo Cloud…..

Yes, that’s a compromise you need to trade over the size of Cloud devices.
I think its too big a compromise right now. We don’t always have power, like say in a restaurant while having dinner. We can’t pull out a laptop or find a plug for a USB power adapter. The exiting cloud device would work fine since it runs on battery power and you can also charge it with any USB power source.
U can use the portable energy devices they are easily avaiable these days and quite compact, i remember using a device called jadu charger when i went on a trip to swat and it gave me 80cycles of ful charge 60mins everytime for my lumia 800 which i guess is ample amount of juice to run a device like evo for atleast a week
And the best part was that i got the jadu charger for only 150rs from boltan market
I was amazed from the result myself because i expected it to die after the intial charge but it just kept going

There should be a way around for this as well , Like OTG cable you can easily connect it to your phone via micro USB port … How about this ??
workable indeed. Device requires a power source, of any kind to get the power signal to get things going.
Problem is an OTG cable wont always work since the USB port needs to be able to output a 5V power signal as well which most mobile devices and tablets don’t do yet.

Very few tablets can. For instance, the recently announced Surface RT can’t provide power to the USB port but the Surface Pro can.

A good product indeed but the problem is again the PTCL’s quality of service. Let me quote from a post “Speed throttling to 256Kbps upon reaching prescribed volume limit” LOL!!!
There is no need for reaching the limit, I personally use 3G evo and my experience was a horrible one. Average speed that I usually get was 300-600 kbps and it never crosses even 1.5 Mbps mark (checked at almost 30% areas of Karachi). PTCL should focus here (Quality of service) rather than introducing new products of the same kind.

The speed will always be minimum of the quoted limit is. Like you get 1mb DSL internet, you ill get maximum of 100kbps speed. similarly if you get 4mb DSL package you ill get around 400 to 500 kbps. This is due to the line losses. If you are getting 300 to 600 kbps, I guess you are very lucky. to get such a great speed.
@Ravian…one should get around 100 kBps on 1mb and around 400-500 kBps on 4mb dsl internet……getting around 300-600 kbps means just 50 kBps….that too slow…..
Internet connection is mentioned in bits and download speed in bytes. 8 bits make one bye. 1Mbps means 1000Kbps. divide 1000 with 8 and you get result in bytes. which is 125KB. so if you are getting a speed of 1000KB/s, you are using about 90% of your channel. ;)
I have been using EVO 3.1Mbps but getting only 25 Kilo bytes :-(
I use the EVO device too my speed (Download Rate) ranges between 110kb (Lowest @Night) to 330kb(@Daytime) but it mostly remains in between 270- 330 kb during the morning to evening time period

I have tested the device a week ago , Only backdraw is to impose 100 GB limit. Else its reception and wifi range is awesome.

Never Go for PTCL. I wasted lots of Money on them not any more. Their services are getting worst day by day. Unfortunately all internet providers uses PTCL backbone but again their Customer Service is far better than PTCL. Its becoming Pakistani Company now. Like few years back Mobilink used to be Increased customers but didn’t increased the services and improved infrastructure. PTCL please spend our money in form of bills you take in your infrastructure not in advertisement.

Yes I am not that much technical person, As I have done my BS in Computing had some courses of some Telecommunications and how they work. Anyways, I am proud of be Pakistani and I am proud of those Pakistani Product which service is up to the mark and don’t lies. I was found of PTCL Broadband and got their service when they introduce first time in Pakistan. I personally suggested PTCL Broadband in more than 50 places. But just few years back when they gave lots of internet connections with advertisement. They didn’t spend on the infrastructure. I bet you call on 1218 for Broadband complain your call can’t get though in 5 mints. I have spend more than 30 mints for hold.. well they are lots more but its useless to share it here.. in short they should spend their infrastructure rather than on advertisement.
what pakistani and what pakistani service you are talking about its the famous etisalaat working pretty well in the middle east but as it acquired a nationalized institution ptcl in pakistan so loog had hraaam hein and nakamay rahnay k aade hein logon k moon ko govt job mien rah k haraam lag chuka hay thats why they suck…service naam ke cheez nahe en mein….money and idea to is great company ka hay jo middle east mein kamal ke service day rahe hay and nakama pan hamara…but ultimately common man suffer karta hay we want a good and reliable service and we are deprived of that after paying all the taxes and service charges etc. My brother ptcl is just a sick company you can see its offer. Initially it offered unlimited download for 24 hours in day pass package of evo 3.1 mb and later when the people bought evo they added just a word FUP….bloody fair usage and replace unlimited with 1 Gb only an idiot can use these sort of package now or a person with no other options. They are shameless and they don’t know anything about customer retention and satisfaction. They change their packages quite often just to cause loss to the customer. the successful packages are changed often.
Please provide me the evidence who is getting atleast 9mbps. Its waste of money guys never use PTCL services. Spend extra on some other like wateen but saving money cost you BIG Pain
this wimax thing is seriously confusing ..i am using qubee and it suckks .. my friend using ptcl evo it even sucks more… i also have ptcl dsl and it rocks.. so the point is these services are not same for all the quality varies from area to area and even person to person…

drama.. service is sucked up, I’ev not seen a single person getting more than 1mbps…and I am getting only .46 mbps, they don’t have any boosters installed, and speed depends on the distance of your location from the Pole…

I have been using wingle for the last 3 months. i must say that the service is pathetic. I hardly get a speed averaging 50 kbps. I complained them about 4 times without any effort on their part of solving this issue. I must advise others to refrain from purchasing any of their product as you will never get the speed they claim they will provide you. Hope this help you guys.
