Customs Discover Dozens of iPhones & Other Gadgets Being Smuggled at Lahore Airport

The customs authority at Allama Iqbal International Airport, Lahore, has foiled a smuggling attempt involving Rs 3.4 million.

The items recovered from this smuggling attempt included 23 iPhones, 4 Ipads, 4 Sony cameras, and one wireless set, all of which were found in a bag sent from Dubai to Lahore. DC Customs, Saqib Warraich said that these items were to be dispatched from Lahore to Islamabad through Lahore Airport’s domestic departure.

The smuggled items have been taken into custody and all airlines have been directed to check bags at the Lahore airports before they are dispatched to their destination.

Last month, the customs authority recovered clothes being smuggled to Karachi which were worth millions of rupees. Following the discovery, raids were conducted in Karachi in which the customs preventive anti-smuggling organization recovered 45,000 kgs of non-duty paid clothes.

The raids took place around areas of Lyari, Metha Dar, and Mandir Wali Gali, and the estimated value of these clothes was reportedly Rs 120 million.
