Barring Punjab, all provinces are self-sufficient in gas production, with Sindh being the biggest producer of natural gas.
It was revealed by the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) officials during a meeting of the Senate’s Functional Committee on Problems of Less Developed Areas.

According to OGRA, Punjab produces 92 MMCF of gas and consumes 950 MMCF while Sindh produces 2,225 MMCF and consumes 1,562 MMCF.
On the other hand, Balochistan produces 651 MMCF of gas and consumes 405 MMCF while KP produces 366 MMCF of gas and consumes 317 MMCF.

Chairman Committee, Senator Usman Khan Kakar, lamented that a significant share of Balochistan’s gas is supplied to other provinces and most parts of the province remain without gas to this day.
Besides, the Chairman directed OGRA officials to ensure that gas pressure remains stabilized in cold areas during winters.
