Public outcry and a massive traffic jam finally prompted Islamabad Capital Territory Police (ICTP) to come to its senses and remove speed breakers from the expressway.
The decision was aimed at “improving” safety and security measures in Islamabad. Yet, all it did was create a massive traffic jam on an extremely busy road, causing frustration among the masses.
The speed breaker was situated right before the Faizabad checkpost. The traffic jam’s tail-end touched Khanna Bridge, which is 6.4 kilometers from Faizabad.
Along with public frustration, congestion became an issue for emergency vehicles as well. A motorist told ProPakistani:
I saw three ambulances stuck in traffic at different points. They couldn’t move because of the traffic jam and we couldn’t give way to them because there was no space.
The worsening traffic situation caused the ICTP to undo the blunder and remove the speed breakers. The department also shared an official post, informing the masses of their removal.

Initially, ICTP defended its decision to construct the speed breaker, stating that it is essential for ensuring the safety and security of the capital. The department seemingly realized later that keeping the speed breakers was not an option.

Please don’t be personal and use derogatory words for police as they are also looking after our security ,instead we can suggest them the alternate for removing difficulty in running traffic smoothly.
In Islamabad, anybody and everybody can place a speed breaker anywhere he wants. The 20 to 22 grade clowns of various Govt depts, especially police, deem it their birth right to built speed breakers outside their hired residences in various sectors of Islamabad.

The police have also put double speed breakers on both sides of Sihala Police College on Kahuta Road. They have totally ignored the fact that Kahuta Road is already in shambles. One set of speed breakers come just after Sihala Railway crossing where traffic already remain stuck for most of the time. These speed breakers are so badly made that they are destroying vehicles from the bottom side.
Can’t believe the level of incompetence of those who thought this was a good idea and those still defending it.
Who were the “Geniuses” that decided to build a speed breaker on the busiest “expressway” in the city? If they make such stupid decisions, imagine what the administrators have been doing till now. The biggest problem in Pakistan is not having right people at the right jobs. We have unprofessionals at the helm of professional jobs.
