Quetta Gladiators have decided to rebuild their squad ahead of PSL 9 after failures in the previous few seasons. Quetta, one of the most successful sides in the early editions of the tournament, have looked shadow of their former selves as they have failed to qualify for the PSL playoffs for the past four seasons.
Gladiators will be hoping to qualify for the playoffs this time around and have decided to rebuild their squad with some fresh new faces in the team. They have let go of Naseem Shah as they traded in Mohammad Wasim Jr and Abrar Ahmed from Islamabad United. They also let go of their longstanding player Mohammad Nawaz. They also brought in Rilee Rossouw as they traded Iftikhar Ahmed with Multan Sultans.
Mohammad Amir, Sherfane Rutherford, Usman Qadir and Akeal Hosein are some of the new players that have also been brought in to the squad for PSL 2024.
Quetta’s decision to overhaul their squad could go either way as it could take some time for the new-look side to gel.
Quetta’s batting unit looks strong with the likes of Jason Roy, Rilee Rossouw, Will Smeed, Sherfane Rutherford and Saud Shakeel forming the batting side.
Furthermore, Quetta Gladiators bowling lineup possesses some talented bowlers in the shape of Mohammad Hasnain, Mohammad Amir, Abrar Ahmed, Wanindu Hasaranga, Mohammad Wasim Jr, Usman Qadir, Akeal Hosein and Sohail Khan. The talented bowling unit will be hoping to put in a good impression in PSL 2024.
Quetta have still not decided whether their longstanding captain, Sarfaraz Ahmed will lead the side in PSL 9. There are rumors of a new captain leading the side in PSL 2024 with Shane Watson coming in as head coach and Shain Tait as bowling coach.
Quetta Gladiators match will include home and away fixtures, with National Bank Cricket Arena, Karachi being the home stadium of the franchise. Quetta Gladiators fixtures will include a total of 10 matches, playing 2 games against each team in the tournament.
Quetta will be hoping to put in a good showing and have a positive impact for the team to go and win the tournament within the next couple of seasons.
